These are the cursed, the forsaken. The Werewolf was a curse (virus) delivered unto men by the Urbat. Once a human is a Werewolf they change into a wolf-type creature (more powerful and brutal than a wolf) every full moon going on a blood-lust driven rampage. Also a bite from a Werewolf which does not result in a kill spreads the virus into another victim.
In Erebus Werewolfs are locked inside their wolf-like bodies, never returning to human form because of the Chaos Effect, which causes permanent twilight and an absence of any knind of moon.
It is the freedom and protection that the Chaos Effect provides that attracts Werewolves to Erebus. Here they maintain human intelligence, but it is tainted by swift mood swings making for dangerous company.
If a Werewolf feels threatened or is surprised there is a chance of ‘lupine rage’ where the primitive ‘fight’ instinctive wolf side takes over.
Populating the tunnel systems under Erebus, safe from and safer for others, Werewolf’s don’t want to attack humans and tend to use Sanctuaries if they need to preform human business.
Origin
See Urbat for more detail
Diet
The preferred food is Fresh Meat, but if a Werewolf gets a taste for Human Flesh it is hard for them to refuse as humans are such easy prey. In human form their preference for meat is to be rare or uncooked.
Unnatural Abilities
As a human:
- Enhanced sense of smell and hearing
- Enhanced sense of hearing
- Increased metabolism
As a werewolf:
- 3 times stronger than their human form
- Augmented instinctive response, not hindered by thought. This quality is almost bordering on telepathic precognition
- Has highly enhanced senses
- Enhance healing: A werewolf can regenerate any part of it’s body completely, as long as it’s not beheaded, but it must be before it returns to human shape otherwise it will be incomplete until it’s next change. If its too badly injured a Werewolf will retain it’s wolf form until regenerated. Any injury which occurs in Human form will not be healed and will affect the wolf form. A removed leg might take 5 hours to regenerate.
- Some precognitive ability making them formidable in a fight even against stronger opponents
Weaknesses
- Silver-nitrate: When added to the blood stream of a Werewolf it causes a process similar to leukaemia and take take up to 10 transformations to kill the werewolf. The human host is unaware and will seem healthy during this time. There is no cure.
- Silver: Anything silver entering a werewolf’s body will hurt and slow them down. A direct penetration through the heart or the brain will result in instant death. This is mainly because of the werewolf’s body to reject anything made of silver. A normal bullet would pass through or be rejected by the werewolf but a silver bullet will not pass through and, if not extracted while in human form, will cause a massive anfalctic shock or leukaemia depending on the wound.
- Fire can severely damage and kill a Werewolf if totally engulfed
- Can be killed in human form like any other human
