Sylvie Coulibaly

Name: Sylvie Coulibaly

Affiliation: Fabel

DoB: 2022

Place of birth: Abidjan, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire

Age at first appearance: 26

First appearance: The Never People

Sylvie came to the UK to attend university, and upon graduating, was offered a job on a top-secret government project, which would result in an offer of UK citizenship and any student debts taken care of. She speaks university English with a West African accent. She can also speak several other languages, such as Bambara, German, French, and Danish.

Sylvie likes practical active wear used for camping and hiking, but enjoys adding some colour and strong designs to it.  She wears well-worn military boots most of the time, but swaps them out for boxing boots when running or training.

She’s 6ft tall, medium-slim, well built, but not toned, and keeps fit using what she calls nature’s gym. She is proficient in multiple martial arts and well versed in a lot of hand-held weaponry, though doesn’t like guns. She enjoys sparing with Cross when he’s in the mood as he is a ‘cunning, cheating son-of a bitch’, and they are close friends.

She’s very direct, sharing her views readily, but keeps her feelings to herself for the most part, sharing when it’s necessary and only with people she trusts. She has scars on her forearms and neck which look like rope burns, she does not try to hide these.

Special abilities

Evolved Human Physiology: Sylvie was accidentally subjected to the Superman serum, which was part of the MODs Superman Project. This resulted in her physiology being altered and evolved. She has superior strength, speed, stamina and healing, which could appear superhuman, but is actually an evolved human at the highest peak of fitness, combined with highly improved/evolved internal systems delivering blood, oxygen, proteins and hormones efficiently around her body.  One example of her perceived enhancements is how her body handles deep-sea diving; she does not require decompression and can survive 15-20 minutes on a single breath due to how well her body manages gases and mass distribution.

Influences and inspiration

Danai Gurira (Okoye), Lashana Lynch (Nomi), and Nichelle Nichols (Nyota Uhura).
